DeRusha On Air

I left a successful two decade TV news career to bring new energy to drivetime talk radio and podcasting. Emmy awards: I’ve been earning them for years, for anchoring, for breaking news, and for reporting. We rebooted the morning news and went to #1 in the ratings. Then we launched a news and lifestyle show “WCCO MidMorning” at 9am and took that to #1. I was the first on-air person in the CBS owned stations to have a blog, I was a nominee for the Oscar of the food world, the James Beard Award for television food reporting.

I graduated from the honors program at Marquette University with a political science and broadcast journalism degree. I went from interning at ABC “World News Tonight,” to reporting/anchoring at KWQC-TV, WISN-TV, and WCCO-TV before moving to radio.

My first job was as a referee of a 4th grade basketball game. High School morning announcement guy. College TV station News Director.

I was named to the 100 people to watch by Twin Cities Business magazine, 40 Under 40 from the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, and young alum of the year for the Marquette University College of Communication.

But the most important award is the trust of listeners, viewers and readers – who count on me every day.
